COVID-19 Arrangements and GUEST FACT SHEET
We are all looking forward to welcoming you to The Old Forge . We understand that many of you may have some apprehension about your visit so, for the sake of clarity and your peace of mind, we have put together the following document to inform you of the measures we have put in place ready for your stay.
Over recent weeks we have been busy assessing our operations and making certain adaptations to the offering in the interests of keeping us all as safe as possible. We have been doing this with the aim of still providing the high level of service.
– So, a few general points to start:
– We would ask you read this factsheet.
– We will be operating the hotel on a reduced capacity as we open up next month.
– We expect that some of the measures listed below will change as time goes by and all aspects of COVID-19 safety protocols are constantly under review.
– We have been awarded a Covid-19 Industry Standard form Visit England , in recognition that The Old Forge has been confirmed that we have followed government and industry COVID -19 guidelines , ensuring processes are in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social/physical distancing – ’We’re Good To Go’

We have changed some of the things we do to ensure the safety of your stay, please read through the guidelines as some of these will affect your stay. We have tried to retain our offerings and little touches where possible and can reassure you that we will try our utmost to deliver the service as much as possible.
As per draft Government advice, please do not travel to us if you anyone in your party is showing any of the common symptoms of Coronavirus. We will happily re-arrange your stay for a future date at no penalty. For your confidence in booking, all reservations ae currently fully flexible and can be moved to another date.
We recommend before making your reservation that you read through the guest factsheet/ guidance — to ensure you understand all the actions we have in place to keep you safe during your stay and to enable you to relax and enjoy your stay.
Your agreement that you will follow out temporary new procedures and extra measures whilst on our premises is kindly requested. A link to this document will be emailed prior to your stay and unless we hear from you it is presumed that you are happy to continue with your booking under these new measures.

We politely request that if you are displaying any symptoms of Covid-19 that you call us to postpone your stay. These include; A high temperature, a new and persistent cough and loss of taste and smell. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/.
We strongly recommend that you download the government approved track and tracing app to ensure we are all alerted to any guests who may pose a risk of spreading Covid-19.
If you develop any symptoms during your journey to The Old Forge please return home and do not enter the hotel. There will be no cancellation charge under these circumstances.
We would remind you to limit contact with other people and keep social distancing whilst travelling to us, using hand sanitiser, wipes and masks where appropriate.
Where possible we would ask that you pay your accommodation charges to be pre-paid prior to your arrival –by bank transfer —our bank details will be sent with your confirmation details when booking direct with us. Should you have made your booking direct on our booking system on the website or bookings.com—payment will be made upon your arrival by debit card machine (the card machine will be sanitised before and after each transaction. Should you have any extras e.g. cream teas, wines, beers….during your stay these can be settled as requested by using ‘contactless’ through the card machine.
If you do arrive at the same time as another guest, pleased be mindful of social distancing –Hand sanitiser is available next to the front door which we encourage you to use whenever entering the building, an additional hand sanitiser is also available in reception. Guests will be required to sanitise before entering the hotel.
Please ensure that all members of your party are courteous and mindful of others at all time.
You will be required to register, we will assist you maintaining social distancing, your key will be placed in a basket and passed to you which would have been sanitised since the last guest.
Public Areas, Corridors and Stairwells
We have limited our occupancy thus enabling the main part of The Old Forge to have limited rooms occupied at the same time, assisting with not have many guests meeting on stairs and in corridors. Many of our bedrooms have their own front doors and private garden/ patio space. However should you be accommodated in the main part of the building please be mindful of other guests and social distance- also a beautiful old building we have positioned mirror at the top of the stairwell for your ease to see guests coming up the stairs and along the corridor.
These areas will be frequently cleaned and sanitised.
Every guest bedroom and en-suite will be deep cleaned and fully sanitised before each stay –this may take a little longer than normal so we do ask for your patience should you room not be ready by 3pm—and we have changed our departure time to 10.00am. Linens and towels professionally washed on high heat, with added sanitisation.
We regret that we cannot clean your room daily if you are staying four nights or less. If you should require this service, rooms will need to be vacant and personal items including toiletries stowed away however should you require any additional guest suppliers’ e.g. tea, coffee sachets, biscuits, toilet paper—we will replenish these for you as requested on your guest request form in your bedroom which you can leave on your breakfast table in the morning. We have removed the cotton wool, cotton wool pads etc. —should you need any of these, please ask.
We ask that you empty your bin, placing sealed bags of rubbish outside your door for collection; you will find clean bin bags underneath the old one. We will enter your room briefly during the day whilst wearing a mask only to drop off your requested items.
Guests will be provided with hand sanitiser in all our bedrooms for use during your stay and this will be replenished as required. Please do not remove the hand sanitiser from your bedroom, should you require any additional sanitizer bottles these can be purchased from us.
In the event a guest has symptoms during their stay, they will be asked to return home as soon as possible, the room will be sealed for 72 hours and not let until it has been deep cleaned.
We may request an approximate breakfast time from you, however due to the size of our dining room and garden conservatory you will have plenty of space around the tables and should the weather be kind , you are very welcome to take your breakfast in the gardens or your own private patio/ terrace.
Our wonderful breakfast buffet will unfortunately not be on display, however we have incorporated these on our breakfast laminated menu which will be prepared and served from the kitchen. Jams, preserves, butter will be served from the kitchen with your fresh toast. All breakfast china, salt, pepper pots etc. will be sanitised after each service, sugars will be disposable sachets. Breakfast orders will be taken with social distancing and we will offer full table service.
We have held a 5 star food hygiene rating (maximum possible) since we opened.
Our garden conservatory guest toilet will be unavailable.
Hand sanitising stations will be set up at the entry and exit points to use and should be used every time you enter or exit dining areas.
Before you check out, we would be grateful if you would open your windows for ventilation. Please check that you have all your belongings with you, checking all drawers and cupboards.
Please place your key in the basket in reception. Dependant on the number of guests checking out that day we may request check out times be staggered, check out time is 10.00am .
We ask that you use the hand sanitisers before leaving the hotel.
The Forge Team / General
We are a very small team at The Old Forge, which includes the owners and Margaret, who has been working at The Old Forge for over eleven years – we have all been trained and worked through these updated guidelines/ fact sheet to ensure we have routines and safe practises to ensure we are adhering to utmost safety and care – have undergone comprehensive hospitality-focused training on how to prevent the contagion of Covid-19. We will continue to elevate our training as best practices evolve.
All team members will be washing their hands (or using hand sanitiser) at least every 20 minutes from the moment they arrive at work.
The team will follow a policy of no physical contact and maintain social distancing, wherever possible…. please do not think we’re being impolite!
We will perform temperature checks for all staff at the beginning of the working day.
You will see some staff wearing enhanced protective masks where necessary. Much of this will be behind the scenes in housekeeping.
All our team have undergone comprehensive hospitality-focused training on how to prevent the contagion of Covid-19. We will continue to evaluate our training as best practices evolve.
Any staff member who shows symptoms will be told stay at home and will be required to self-isolate for 14 days prior to returning to work.
On hearing the fire alarm, please follow the normal procedure as outlined in the guest information file and notice in your bedroom and keep a 2m distance from other guest where possible, whilst standing in the carpark.
Whilst out and about during your stay, please maintain social distancing, wear masks where applicable and wash your hands regularly.
